Kent Ekeroth, who had a break from politics for four years, was persuaded by the Sweden Democrats Dalarna this summer, to represent the party as an opposition councilor in Region Dalarna, something that the Dala Democrats revealed on Friday.

- When SD Dalarna contacted me last summer, I felt it was time to return, Kent Ekeroth tells Dala-Demokraten.

"Will move to Dalarna"

Fredrik Trygg, group leader for SD in the Region, confirms to SVT that Kent Ekeroth will be the party's opposition councilor:

- Kent Ekeroth will move to Dalarna, he will not sit in the regional council but only work as an opposition councillor.

Controversial politician

Kent Ekeroth has previously been a Member of Parliament.

He is also associated with the iron pipe scandal in June 2010, when he recorded a mobile video from Kungsträdgården in Stockholm where he insulted several people with racist and sexist slurs.

Eight years later, he was kicked from the Riksdag list.

The party leadership then believed that his trust with large sections of the public had been damaged through a series of different incidents in which he had been involved over the years.
