The updated situation in Italy and in the world

Rezza, Ministry of Health: The incidence rises slightly, hospitalizations stable.

Making vaccines adapted to variants

"This week we observe a slight reversal of the trend in the incidence rate of Covid-19 cases in our country, which dates back to 215 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. Rt, on the other hand, remains substantially stable, at around 0.91%, below. below the epidemic threshold ".

This was stated by Gianni Rezza, general director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health, in the video commenting on the weekly data.

"With regard to the occupancy rate of places in the medical and intensive care areas - he continued - we are respectively 5.3% and 1.4%, therefore below the critical threshold; the rate is stable compared to the previous week".

"Even if the speed of viral circulation is still relatively high, the vaccines show their ability to protect against the most severe forms of disease and hospitalization. So it is important to renew the recommendation to carry out booster doses with vaccines adapted to circulating variants" , says the Director General of Prevention at the Ministry of Health.
