Gammalsvenskby has been in Russian-controlled territory for six months.

Sofia Hoas is chairman of the association Svenskbyborna on Gotland.

She has daily contact with the people in the village.

In recent days, the Russian government seems to be preparing something.

- The day before yesterday, a lot of riot police came in from the occupation authorities to carry out some kind of "election", she says and continues:

- They are nervous and they think it is a lot of work.

They I have contact with write that they absolutely do not want to vote to belong to Russia, they want to belong to Ukraine.

A rocket recently landed on a city street.

Luckily it didn't detonate.

In a comment, Sofia Hoas writes about the situation on Friday afternoon as follows:

"After a power cut, I now got in touch with the village again.

They say that it is quiet in the village today and has been so even last night.

So the chaotic atmosphere with riot police and many Russian soldiers that was the day before yesterday is now gone.

Today, only a jeep and a couple of soldiers from the occupation authority are visible.

So there is no referendum in Gammalsvenskby today.
