The president of the World Bank is under fire from critics.

On Tuesday, at an event organized by the

New York Times,

David Malpass

was called upon to react to accusations by former US Vice President Al Gore accusing him of being a climatosceptic.

And on three occasions, the President of the World Bank repeated that he did not know if the use of fossil fuels for human activity had an influence on the climate.

It was not enough for the controversy to start.

In the middle

of the United Nations General Assembly

, voices are now heard to note that the World Bank continues to

finance projects promoting fossil fuels

and are calling for its resignation.

“

I will not resign, and I have not considered it

”, however replied Mr. Malpass on Friday, questioned by the Politico media.

According to him, "

none

" of the member states of the international financial institution has asked for his resignation.

White House Convictions

In an attempt to defuse the situation, the head of the World Bank now explains internally, as in the media, that he knows that scientific research demonstrates the influence of human activity on the climate.

But that might not be enough.

Traditionally, it is the United States, as the first of the 187 shareholder countries of the World Bank, which appoints its president.

This is how David Malpass was named by Donald Trump, known among others, to say that global warming is a hoax.

The Biden administration is beginning to consider shortening David Malpass's four-year term.

We condemn the remarks made by the president

,” the White House said on Friday.
