The facts occurred on Tuesday afternoon, in Montbéliard.

A 21-year-old woman, who was riding a scooter, was knocked down and crushed by a heavy weight.

The driver of the machine, a Turkish driver domiciled in Germany, was indicted on Thursday.

He is suspected of having killed the moped driver after deliberately hitting her with his truck, said the Doubs city prosecutor's office.

The latter requested the provisional detention of the 59-year-old driver, indicted for the criminal acts of "willful violence resulting in death without intention of giving it", Thursday at the end of his police custody.

Tuesday afternoon in Montbéliard, the Turkish driver, leaving a Stellantis site to connect to another, knocked down and crushed the driver of a scooter.

The 21-year-old did not survive.

"As it stands, the elements of the file have provided enough clues to show that he had touched the scooter by voluntary maneuvers, and that he had thus unbalanced the driver and caused her death", explained the prosecutor Ariane Combarel.

Witnesses talk about abnormal behavior

Witnesses to the scene told the police in particular that the heavyweight approached the scooter and hit it abnormally, some indicating that they had the impression that the driver was trying to move the moped driver forward.

"These testimonies and analyzes of the tachograph disc - which records the speed and activity of a vehicle - still need to be refined", according to the prosecutor.

The truck driver on the contrary declared during his police custody that he had "seen nothing, felt nothing".

According to him, “he would have stopped after hearing cars honking and looking in his rear view mirror, where he saw the scooter and the body.
