In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China this month, Nara Prefecture and others will hold an exhibition of cultural properties showing the history of exchanges between Japan and China in Beijing, China from the 24th. The exhibition titled "2000 Years of Japan-China Exchange: Beauty and Spirit Connecting Asia" will be held jointly by Nara Prefecture and Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China.



The opening ceremony was held on the 24th, and Governor Arai of Nara Prefecture sent a video message saying, "It is of great significance to the friendly relationship between our two countries."



At the exhibition, cultural assets that show the history of exchanges between Japan and China were introduced, including a large mirror from the Kofun period excavated in Tenri City from Nara Prefecture, and a reproduction of the wall painting of the Takamatsuzuka Tumulus, known as "Asuka Bijin,"108. cultural assets will be exhibited.



In addition, the Chinese side will introduce 68 items, including epitaphs engraved on tombstones, believed to have been written by Kibi Makibi, who traveled to Tang China as an envoy to Tang China.



Du Pengfei, Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Art Museum, said, "Through the exhibition, I hope that the Chinese people will understand that there are thousands of years of cultural exchange and friendship between Japan and China."



In addition, Mr. Hiroyuki Unno of the Nara Prefectural Government's Cultural Resources Utilization Division said, "Re-examining the beginnings of exchanges between our two countries will be a step towards the future."
