Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid thanked his British counterpart Liz Truss for declaring that she was seriously considering moving her country's embassy from Tel Aviv to (occupied) Jerusalem.

Lapid said - in a tweet to him on Twitter - that he thanks the "dear friend" (Trass) for the interest in moving the British embassy to Jerusalem.

The Israeli Prime Minister met with a Terrace on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and he said that they discussed deepening relations in the areas of trade, innovation and security.

Lapid described his British counterpart as a true friend of Israel, noting that they would make the alliance between the United Kingdom and Israel stronger.

And the British newspaper, The Telegraph, quoted a government spokeswoman as saying that Terass was reviewing the location of the current embassy in Tel Aviv.

Trass had made a pledge during her tenure of foreign affairs to review the embassy's website, in a letter to the "Friends of Israel" from the Conservative Party during her competition for the party's leadership.

On May 14, 2018, the United States inaugurated its new embassy in Israel, after moving it from Tel Aviv to the Arnona neighborhood in the western part of the occupied holy city.
