A terrible accident occurred this Wednesday morning in Eyzin-Pinet (Isère).
A man accidentally rolled over his 17-month-old baby, killing him instantly, reports France Bleu Isère.
The incident happened shortly before 9 a.m.
According to the first elements, the man had just dropped off his children, the infant and another 6-year-old boy.
As he started again, he crushed the little victim with his van in the village square.
An ongoing investigation
Alerted urgently, the emergency services arrived on site by helicopter.
The baby was in cardiorespiratory arrest and could not be resuscitated despite all the efforts of the Lyon Samu dispatched to the scene.
His death was pronounced on the spot.
Witnesses to the terrible accident, the father, mother and brother of the victim were taken care of and transported to the medico-psychological emergency room of the Vienna hospital.
According to Le Dauphiné, a gendarmerie investigation has been opened to determine the precise circumstances of the tragedy.
