It became known that Yahoo Japan, the largest portal site following the Japan Meteorological Agency, provided weather information and marked Dokdo as Japanese territory.

Today (22nd), Sungshin Women's University professor Seo Kyung-duk posted on his Instagram, "Both the Yahoo Japan site and the app were displaying Dokdo as Takeshima (竹島, the name of Dokdo claimed by Japan) while providing weather information when Typhoon Nanmadol passed. "He said.

Earlier, at the time of Typhoon Hinnamno's northbound, a similar controversy arose when the Japan Meteorological Agency marked Dokdo as Japanese territory on the weather warning map.

Korean netizens, including Professor Seo, immediately sent a protest email, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested a correction from the Japanese side.

However, the Japan Meteorological Agency did not correct the notation even when providing weather information regarding the recent typhoon Nanmadol.

Professor Seo mentioned the case of modification of Microsoft's portal MSN and said, "We will also protest and demand correction from Yahoo Japan and Yahoo Headquarters."

When checking the 'Warnings and Warnings' of Typhoon Hinnamno on MSN, Microsoft's portal in the United States in early September, clicking on Dokdo displayed weather information for Japan.

Overseas Korean netizens, including Professor Seo, immediately protested, and Microsoft delivered an official position on the 15th, "We inform you that the Dokdo recognition error has been corrected."

Meanwhile, Professor Seo pointed out, "Dokdo is marked as 'Liancourt Reef' on Google maps around the world, and there is no indication of Dokdo on the Apple iPhone map."

Liancourt Reef is named after the French whaling ship Liancourt who discovered Dokdo, and is a term spread by the Japanese government to deny Korea's sovereignty over Dokdo.

Professor Seo emphasized, "In the future, we will definitely bring out the correct notation of 'Dokdo' in map and weather services such as Google, Apple, and Yahoo."
