The DS7 is a real success for the premium manufacturer of the Stellantis group.

President Macron's favorite SUV alone accounts for 40% of the brand's sales in our country.

A proportion now equal to the most recent DS4.

To continue to stand up to its little sister, the model is therefore redesigned, and more deeply than it seems.

The old version and those updated side by side feature an enlarged grille, refined lights and a new LED light signature literally integrated into the shield.

At the rear, too, the lights have been refined, and the DS Automobiles lettering has replaced the Crossback on the chrome strip that unites them.

What's less noticeable is that the entire tailgate has been redesigned, with a few extra edges to match the styling of the new 4. All of this, and more with the stunning new 21-inch rims, brings a real additional presence to this DS7, and contribute to giving it a more slender look.

On board, the new enlarged screen drives the Iris multimedia system, and the driver is entitled to new graphics for the digital dashboard.

And above all, the perceived quality goes up a notch, and now has nothing to envy to its competitors across the Rhine.

Nice surprise!

The DS7 is now available in four engines.

In addition to the 130 hp diesel, there are three rechargeable hybrid offers.

The 225 hp E-Tense and 300 hp E-Tense 4x4 gain a few kilometers of electric range (up to 65 km).

And at the top of the offer now sits an unprecedented strong version of 360 horsepower thanks to its two electric motors which lend a hand to the 1.6l petrol.

But the engineers did not just add more horsepower, they also reworked the entire chassis accordingly: recalibrated steering, firmer suspensions, specific sports tires, etc.

Result: the DS7 shows a sacred temperament, accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.5 seconds.

Better: it even shows a real enthusiasm on winding roads, remaining stable and firm on its supports in curves.

The premium SUV is therefore surprising in this area, and we only regret that a box is not always as fast as we would like and a very unremarkable sound for a sports version.

Embodied sweetness

This dynamism is obtained without totally denying what makes the strength of DS: comfort!

Like the other models, this one receives the Active Scan suspensions, which analyzes the road using a camera at the front of the vehicle, and adapts the damping accordingly.

We are truly rocked on board, and even more so on the “normal” versions, with a softer road feel.

This DS7 therefore manages to rise to the level of the tenors, while retaining a deliciously different charm.

And between €44,700 (130 hp Bastille diesel) and €78,400 (E-Tense 360 La Première), it is also cheaper than the latter.
