79 million euros, that's what Glovo will have to pay - this Barcelona home meal delivery company, leader in the Spanish market.

This is in fact the first fine imposed for concealed work, a year after the entry into force of the "rider" law supposed to protect the labor rights of delivery people.

The labor inspectorate calculates that precisely 10,000 of these workers - 8,000 in Barcelona and 2,000 in Valencia - should have been employees since this law and no longer be self-employed.

The Minister of Labor, Yolanda Diaz, had however warned last August.

This Wednesday, September 21, she insists: "

the weight of the law will fall on this company

", she threatened, specifying that the situation of these 10,000 workers was regularized and that her ministry would not stop as long as the law would not be respected.

For its part, Glovo has not yet reacted but this fine could deal the death blow to the company since the sum represents 15% of its turnover.
