While the government is still considering going through an amendment in the Social Security finance bill, the method is unanimously rejected by the opposition.

“

I think that if it is by an amendment, the government will impale itself

”, immediately retorts the boss of LR senators,

Bruno Retailleau

.

According to him,

a pension reform

on the sly and without consulting the social partners and Parliament is doomed to failure.

But no question for the boss of the senators Les Républicains to give the appearance of backing down on the merits of a reform for a long time demanded by the right-wing party.

“

I said to

the Prime Minister

, we cannot do without a pension reform.

If we don't do this, we can clearly see that in the coming years, there will be a tripling of the deficit in the old-age branch

 , ”he assures.

At the Socialist Party, it is estimated on the contrary that this reform which plans to raise the retirement age is far from necessary.

This makes the government's plan all the more unacceptable and even dangerous, believes Patrick Kanner, president of the PS group in the Senate: "

Wanting to force through, in one way or another, would lead our country to contest in a brutal, and surely in the street, a reform which is neither desirable nor useful at this stage.

 »

On the government side, however, it is believed that the discussions were constructive.

Ms. Borne is to continue her consultations this Thursday, notably by receiving the head of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen.
