Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Nagaoka held talks with Governor Hanazumi of Niigata Prefecture regarding the registration of the Gold Mine on Sado Island as a World Cultural Heritage Site, and confirmed that the national and prefectural governments will work together to resubmit the nomination form.

Based on this, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology plans to submit a provisional recommendation to UNESCO on the 29th of this month.

With the aim of registering Niigata Prefecture's Gold Mine on Sado Island as a World Cultural Heritage Site, the government submitted a nomination form to UNESCO in February this year, but was pointed out to be inadequate, so it decided to resubmit the nomination form. to



Under these circumstances, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Nagaoka visited Sado City, Niigata Prefecture for the first time since his inauguration, inspected the site of "Golden Mine on Sado Island", and then met with Governor Hanazuno at the Niigata Prefectural Office.

At the meeting, Minister Nagaoka called for cooperation to resubmit the recommendation letter. He confirmed that the national and prefectural governments will cooperate.



Based on this, on the 29th of this month, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology plans to dispatch staff to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee Secretariat in Paris, France, and submit a provisional version of the nomination form.
