Editor's note: 85 years ago, American journalist and author Edgar Snow wrote a book Red Star Over China after observing the arduous struggle of the Chinese Communists, which caused a sensation among Western readers.

In the vicissitudes of life in 1985, the red star in Snow's writings not only illuminated China, but also impressed the world with the shining light of the East.

On the occasion of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, in order to let history illuminate the future and let the world understand China better, China News Network launched a series of reports on "Why Red Stars Shine in China", inviting celebrities, expert think tanks and overseas Chinese to discuss China Ten Years of great changes, looking forward to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the future development of China.

Stephen Perry is chairman of the 48 Group Club in the UK.

In the 1950s, British entrepreneurs represented by Perry's father Jack Perry embarked on an "ice-breaking journey", breaking the ice of Western trade with China.

Since then, generations of "icebreakers" have continued to struggle, making important contributions to the development of China-UK relations.

In 1972, Perry himself came to China for the first time.

He said that as China moves up the industrial chain, China has successfully lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, and countries are paying attention to China's development model.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Perry believes that China has an excellent leadership core and is in a state of good governance.

He believes that China will better achieve common prosperity in the next stage.
