They never took off.
The 200 passengers on a flight supposed to connect Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands (Spain), and Ostend (Belgium) spent a very unpleasant evening on their return from vacation on Sunday, reports
7sur7
.
The passenger plane, operated by TUIfly, was due to leave at 7:45 p.m.
Takeoff was delayed for the first time, and the passengers then waited 1h15 sitting in their seats, without any explanation for the immobility of the plane on the tarmac.
The crew didn't know either.
Misinformed, Not Restored
The passengers finally received a text message from the airline at 9 p.m. informing them that their flight was… simply cancelled.
No faulty aircraft or dangerous weather: because of the initial delay, TUIfly employees simply exceeded the legal working hours.
The flight was therefore canceled and postponed to the following day.
After returning to the airport and collecting their luggage, the passengers were transported by bus to a hotel around midnight.
During the night, they received a new text message informing them that their flight was rescheduled for 10:30 the next day.
To top it off, travelers were unable to eat either in the evening at the airport or the next morning at the hotel, as the establishment had not planned for this massive last-minute arrival.
When asked, TUIfly said it would cover accommodation costs for all passengers.
