SVT Nyheter Sörmland has met Nataliia Volkova who came to Eskilstuna from Kyiv.

She says that it is difficult for Ukrainian refugees to integrate in Sweden as they are not allowed to read SFI, Swedish for immigrants.

There are other opportunities for Ukrainians to study the language, including through the initiative "Swedish from day one" provided by folk high schools and study associations.

But there are several who do not consider that to be enough.

Within SFI there is a requirement that there are certified teachers who teach and they are based on curricula and course plans.

SKR wants a quick investigation

Landskrona municipality and Ystad municipality have chosen to go against the mass displacement directive and offer the Ukrainians SFI training.

Sweden's municipalities and regions, SKR, say that it is doubtful whether municipalities are allowed to do so - it is unclear whether it is compatible with the Municipal Act.

However, this is not something that has been investigated.

SKR has asked the government to quickly investigate the Ukrainians' right to education.

The Liberals want to offer SFI

The Liberals in Eskilstuna came in June with a motion to take over Landskrona and Ystad.

- The language is the key to community, jobs, education and integration.

Many feel that they cannot contribute to Sweden and they would rather not, says Stefan Krstic (L), group leader of the Liberals Eskilstuna.

The municipal council and chairman of the labor market and adult education committee, Jari Puustinen (M) tells SVT that they will not make any exceptions in the SFI issue and refers to following the national directives.

In the clip, Jari Puustinen talks about how he thinks about the issue.
