Both Henrik Fritzon (S) and Carl-Johan Sonesson (M) want to govern the Scania region.

But the voters have made it difficult for them.

None of the blocs has obtained its own majority.

- If the red-greens are to govern, they need to get both the Center Party and the Liberals on board, says Anders Sannerstedt, docent in political science at Lund University.

- The alliance is in the best position because they have cooperation opportunities on both the right and the left.

Need support from SD

The bourgeois four-leaf clover, which has governed the region during the current term, needs to bring the Sweden Democrats into the "family" or get their support to rule in the minority for another four years.

But C and L have said that they do not want to govern together with SD.

- During this mandate period, they have settled with the Sweden Democrats on various issues, so they will certainly continue to do so, and I think that SD prefers to support the bourgeois parties over the red-green ones, says Anders Sannerstedt.

Is it possible that M and S merge?

- It is possible, but I don't think so even though there are 25-30 municipalities, including Eslöv, where social democrats and moderates govern together in the past term, says Anders Sannerstedt.
