It is noteworthy that Taiwan, which is characterized by a large number of mountains, lies on the "Ring of Fire" witnessing intense seismic activity that extends across Southeast Asia and the Pacific Basin.

Most of the population resides in the flat west coast and the capital, Taipei, while the scenic east coast is less populated but considered a tourist destination.

Earthquakes are often witnessed, most of which cause minor damage, noting that this island has recorded tremors in the past that resulted in deaths.
