In order to attend the United Nations General Assembly to be held in New York, Prime Minister Kishida will depart as early as the morning of the 20th if it is possible after confirming the damage situation of the typhoon.

At the General Assembly, he is expected to deliver a general debate addressing the necessity of strengthening the functions of the United Nations in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Kishida was originally scheduled to leave Japan on the 19th to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, but it was postponed due to the impact of Typhoon No. 14 in various places.

On the 20th, Prime Minister Kishida will check the damage situation of the typhoon again and if it is possible, he will depart Haneda Airport on a chartered plane in the morning.

He is expected to deliver a general debate speech at the UN General Assembly, where he will stress the importance of the rule of law and the need to strengthen the functions of the UN, including reform of the Security Council, in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

During my stay, I will also attend a summit-level meeting aimed at the entry into force of the CTBT (Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty), which bans all nuclear tests, and will encourage efforts to abolish nuclear weapons.

In addition, we plan to hold individual meetings with the leaders of various countries, including Prime Minister Truss of the United Kingdom, who just took office this month.
