The driver of a truck was indicted for manslaughter by the driver of a land motor vehicle with deliberate violation of an obligation of safety and prudence, after a fatal accident in Apt, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

This Thursday morning, in Apt (Vaucluse), he knocked down a pedestrian at the level of the General-Leclerc quay.

Seriously injured, the 57-year-old victim was airlifted to a hospital in Marseille.

He eventually succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.

Under judicial control

After the accident, the driver was taken into custody and an investigation was opened.

In particular, the police analyzed the images from the CCTV cameras in order to understand the circumstances of the accident.

These showed that the victim was indeed on a pedestrian crossing when she was hit by the heavy goods vehicle, which led to the indictment of the driver.

He was not driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

The 67-year-old suspect was placed under judicial supervision.
