No Sámi politician was elected to the Riksdag this year either.

But it doesn't have to be a problem, says Håkan Jonsson, Chairman of the Board of the Sami Parliament.

- just because there is a Sami sitting in the Riksdag, I don't know if it really matters that much.

From a democratic perspective, it would be better if the Sámi Parliament were to participate in the debate when it concerns Sámi issues, says Håkan Jonsson.

Blind didn't make it all the way

Despite a 6th place on the Green Party's parliamentary list and votes from all over Sweden, Henrik Blind (MP) did not even reach a parliamentary seat.

But still he is not disappointed:

- We have made such a good choice, here in Jokkmokk, so I don't think about it at all.

But of course, in the times we now live in, it would have been good to have Sami votes in the Riksdag, says Henrik Blind.

Three Sámi in alternate place

But even though Blind did not get a permanent seat in the Riksdag, he became a deputy via Stockholm's municipal list.

Robert Lund (SD) and Daniel Johansson (V) also became deputies.

Blind believes he can influence even from the substitute position.

- Of course, through my party, I can still influence Sami issues, says Henrik Blind.
