On Saturday, a 91-year-old man died in a traffic accident in the town of Berles-Monchel, near Arras, in Pas-de-Calais.

According to our colleagues from France Bleu, the victim was in an ambulance at the time of the tragedy.

The accident occurred in the early afternoon, at a particularly accident-prone crossroads in this small town in Pas-de-Calais.

At this crossroads, subject to priority, an ambulance and a light vehicle collided violently.

The nonagenarian was ejected from the ambulance

The 91-year-old patient transported in the emergency vehicle was ejected.

He died instantly according to our colleagues.

The passenger in the ambulance was seriously injured while the driver came out of it more lightly.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a woman and a 12-year-old child, were also slightly injured.

A gendarmerie investigation was opened to try to understand the circumstances of the accident and determine the responsibilities.
