After 74 years, four martyrs finally "reunited" with their families

With the help of DNA identification technology, 49 unknown martyrs in the Jinan campaign have been identified

"Fan Shuang is full of heart and blood, sprinkled on Qianfeng Qiuye Dan."

The blood of the martyrs was spilled on the battlefield, and the family members completely lost their news, let alone where their bones were buried.

Some relatives can only worship the loess, and some have to put an extra pair of chopsticks on the festival. This is a long 74 years.

On September 14, the Jinan Revolutionary Martyrs Family Search Center launched the fifth Jinan Campaign Unknown Martyrs Family Search Activity, and the four martyrs were able to "reunite" with their relatives.

 fifth departure

On September 14, in front of the Jinan Revolutionary Martyrs' Family Search Center, vehicles with the words "Martyrs' Family Search Volunteer Service Convoy" were lined up neatly, and citizens passing by stopped one after another.

Citizens who often come to Hero Mountain may have seen the same scene before, because this is the fifth departure for the martyr's family search activity.

Zhou Guangtao, a staff member of the Family Search Center, introduced that in order to promote the search for the relatives of the unknown martyrs in the Jinan campaign and to verify the information of the unknown martyrs, in accordance with the work deployment requirements of the Jinan Veterans Affairs Bureau and the progress of the family search, the Jinan Revolutionary Martyrs Family Search Center selects those who meet the conditions for the search. The five unknown martyrs launched the fifth field search activity to find their relatives.

This search activity is divided into two parts, going to five districts and counties in three cities including Linyi, Zaozhuang and Binzhou to search for the descendants of five unknown martyrs.

Before the on-site search, the relative search center has done a lot of work, and the information of some martyrs is almost certain.

This visit is to understand through actual investigation, to communicate face-to-face with the descendants of the martyrs, relatives and friends, to verify the information, and to pave the way for the martyrs to return home.

The reporter followed the search team in Zaozhuang and Linyi all the way, embarked on the road of finding relatives for the martyrs, and experienced the on-site verification of the information of the three martyrs.

Two of the martyrs found their families successfully.

A martyr from Taierzhuang District, Zaozhuang, still needs a family tracing team to go to Hebei Province for further verification.

In the past 74 years, tears have been shed many times. Facing the information of the martyrs that was finally confirmed, the relatives of the martyrs could not hide their sadness.

  disappear suddenly

It is said that time will erase everything. Because of the age, many martyrs participated in the revolution at a young age, and very few have children.

On the road between Zaozhuang and Linyi, the nearest relatives of the two martyrs are nephews, and they are all in their old age.

From their mouths, there is only sporadic information about the relatives of the martyrs handed down from the previous generation. "The family was poor at that time, and my uncle Sun Qingmao walked away as a soldier wearing my father's clothes, and has never returned since then."

Sun Huawei, a 69-year-old martyr's nephew in Jiangqiao Village, Xigang Town, Tengzhou, told reporters, "My father said that his uncle was naughty and brave, and he was not afraid of anything." But there was no news. "Later, one of my uncle's god-brothers came back from Taiwan. They went as soldiers together, but he and my uncle separated long ago, and I don't know my uncle's whereabouts."

The old man in the village, Sun Lanmin, was 90 years old. At that time, they all called the martyr Sun Qingmao "the second mao".

The 92-year-old Sun Qingfu knew more about the martyr Sun Qingmao, "He is not ugly, with a round face and a pale face. We are cousins." Sun Qingfu said, "At that time, I was not very old (age), my second uncle I asked him to ask for the account, and when he asked for the money, he came back and spent it. He was beaten up, and since then he has gone out without a letter, and I don’t know where he went.” Until 1981, he disappeared in 1948. Sun Qingmao was posthumously regarded as a martyr, and his family learned that he had died only after receiving a martyr certificate.

Similarly, the Pei family from Peijiagou, Liuyu, Pingyi County, Linyi City, at the foot of Mengshan Mountain, were equally anxious after 1948.

"At that time, people who came back from the battlefield said that my second uncle (Pei Shouqing) was knocked down in the battle, but he didn't know whether he was dead or alive. Who could take care of him on the battlefield at that time." 68-year-old Pei Chenglin is currently a teacher , he also treasured the second uncle's martyr card.

Pei Chenglin said that after his uncle had no news, his grandma once put on a donkey cart and went to Pingyi County to look for it, but there was no news. Uncle a bowl of rice".

Don't come back after eating pancakes

Fortunately, Pei Shouqing, a martyr from Pingyi County, has two living younger brothers, the fifth and seventh.

The fifth fifth Pei Shouyu had difficulty moving, but he couldn't help wiping his tears when talking about the second brother, "When Meng Lianggu was beaten, he went home once, ate a pancake, and never came back." After speaking, the old man sobbed. .

Speaking of this story, Pei Chenglin also has a deep memory.

At that time, the troops of Martyr Pei Shouqing attacked Meng Lianggu.

During the march, Pei Shouqing told his company commander, "This village is my home."

So, he and the company commander hurried to the house.

Seeing that the son who was a soldier came back, the mother quickly went to spread the pancakes. "My second uncle and the company commander each have a pancake and added eggs. At that time, my grandmother asked my second uncle if he was afraid. He said he was not afraid and ran after eating. Go after the troops. This is the last message."

Pei Chenglin said that his grandfather was the village chief at that time, and when the army came to the village to recruit soldiers, he recommended his second son, Pei Shouqing, who is 1.8 meters tall, to join the army. Artillery fire rescued the wounded, and once a shell exploded beside the stone he was hiding from, he was stunned, and later woke up to see the injured platoon leader, carrying the platoon leader for three miles."

These are the fragments of memories of the martyrs' families about Pei Shouqing.

When he saw the martyr's certificate treasured at his nephew's house, the seventh brother of the martyr picked it up from time to time to watch.

Now that the remains of the martyr have been found, the Pei family also has a little comfort, "My dad once said that I want to find my second uncle and let their old brothers be buried together." Clothes tomb.

The nephew of Martyr Ji Hongchang in Yangxin County, Binzhou said that Martyr Ji Hongchang was literate, once taught, and was a progressive youth. He signed up to join the army himself, but lost the news later, "I looked for it, but I couldn't find it, so I brought back a handful of loess and buried it. In the west of the village." This time the bones of the martyrs were found, and they no longer had to worship the loess.

Similarly, Wang Chengde, the nephew of Martyr Wang Mengling in Binzhou, said, "In those days, my father and my uncle went to look for it, but they were not found." After the relevant information of the martyr was confirmed, the grand-nephew of Martyr Wang Mengling rushed to the tomb of the martyr's parents. , to inform them immediately that the remains of their relatives have been recovered, "Our long-cherished wish is over, you can rest assured."

  the search continues

This is the fifth visit to the relatives of the four martyrs.

It is understood that this search will continue in the future to help more martyrs go home.

For the families of the martyrs who were successfully searched for this time, the search team also gave them a certain amount of condolences.

After receiving the condolences, the relatives and friends of these martyrs expressed their gratitude, "The country has not forgotten us."

Some were embarrassed to take the condolence money, "I didn't contribute to the country, but I actually returned the money."

Hearing the words of the seventh brother of Martyr Pei Shouqing, Wu Yong, a member of the party group of the Jinan Veterans Affairs Bureau, quickly said, "Your second brother gave his life for the country and made great contributions, and we should do everything for the martyrs. "

It is understood that there are 17,841 martyrs in Jinan, including 1,878 unknown martyrs. So far, many martyrs have not found their homes, and some martyrs cannot find a burial place due to historical reasons.

It has been 74 years since the Battle of Jinan. Now the descendants of the martyrs or relatives such as brothers and sisters have entered an advanced age, and the number of living relatives is decreasing year by year. Therefore, finding relatives for the martyrs is a very urgent rescue work that races against time.

Fortunately, with the development of society, there are now technical means such as DNA identification, which makes it possible to find relatives for the Unknown Soldier.

Finding relatives for the martyrs is not only to let the martyrs rest in peace, but also to provide a place for their relatives to mourn for many years.

"Extraction, identification, comparison, screening, verification, and confirmation", on one wall of the conference room of the Jinan Revolutionary Martyr's Family Search Center, a series of workflows for the unknown martyr's family search are displayed, which is also a summary of their practice. down work experience.

In these steps, each step is indispensable. After the DNA identification is completed, the most critical and important part is the final "confirmation".

After the four martyrs confirmed the success of finding their relatives, the 49 unknown martyrs in the Jinan campaign now have their own names.

There is still a long way to go to find relatives for the martyrs. I believe that more unknown martyrs will go home with the help of DNA identification technology.
