Abdullah bin Zayed heads the UAE delegation to the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York

 H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will head the UAE delegation to the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which more than 150 heads of state and government are expected to participate, from 20 to 26 September in New York.

His Highness will review the priorities of the UAE's policy and its vision for issues of peace, security and international cooperation, through his speech to the General Assembly, which he will deliver on September 24.

Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE delegation will engage with member states, UN officials and other partners on pressing global challenges, including climate change, conflict resolution, post-pandemic recovery, humanitarian emergencies, and food insecurity.

As a member of the Security Council, the UAE has played a prominent role in these priorities, as it encourages conflict resolution and the development of the international counter-terrorism system to be able to confront emerging threats, as well as promoting the full, equal and meaningful participation of women in conflict resolution and peace processes.

The UAE also seeks to enhance work and cooperation efforts to address global warming and its effects, through the United Nations system, and as the host country for the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change "COP 28", which will be held in 2023.

On this occasion, His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, said: "Under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the country's delegation will head to the 77th session of the General Assembly this year. To add to the UAE’s record of achievements as responsible and active global citizens.”

Her Excellency added: "The convening of the General Assembly this year comes at a critical time for the international community, as we face complex global threats, from epidemics and climate change to food insecurity and issues of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. In facing these challenges, the UAE looks forward to working with members of The international community, through the work of the 77th session of the General Assembly, to create an incubator environment for sustainable cooperation, to unify viewpoints, and to ensure that the United Nations can fulfill its primary responsibility to maintain peace and security.
