Scotland Yard has announced that a person has been formally charged with attempted murder, after a stabbing attack on two policemen in the center of the British capital.

Muhammad Rahman, 24, from west London, has been charged with attempting to kill a policeman and intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to a policewoman after last Friday's stabbing in Leicester Square, police said.

Rahman was also charged with carrying out an attack and two counts of threatening a person in a public place with a knife, all of which are linked to three other police officers.

The accused is due to appear in a court in southwest London tomorrow.

Police stated that the stabbings are not being treated as terrorism-related.

The London police are deploying the largest number of elements in its history in preparation for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, scheduled for tomorrow, which will be attended by many world leaders.
