While the People's Strength Ethics Committee convened an emergency meeting today (18th), a holiday, attention is being paid to whether additional disciplinary discussion against former CEO Lee Jun-seok will take place.

Lee Yang-hee, chair of ethics committee, met with reporters before the meeting of the ethics committee at the main building of the National Assembly at 3 pm today and said, "After the 6th ethics committee was held on the 22nd of last month, the ethics committee members need to discuss pending issues before the meeting to be held on the 28th. He explained the reason for calling an emergency meeting on holidays, saying, "If there is a request by more than one-third of the party constitution (ethics members), I have no choice but to convene a (meeting) as the chairperson."

She added, "There were opinions that the members should convene the meeting sooner, but since the Chuseok holiday in early September, it was delayed until here, so we have to convene the meeting today."

Regarding the report that some media outlets will decide on the 'expulsion' of former CEO Jun-seok Lee at the Ethics Committee meeting that day, Chairman Lee said, "I'm writing too many speculative articles these days. In spite of this, articles like that keep coming out, so I hope you will refrain from repeating speculative articles this time as well."

He added, "I don't think the speculative articles that have been circulating recently are wrong."

Chairman Lee said, "The ethics committee does not make decisions and start meetings under any circumstances.

The People's Power Ethics Committee has reiterated its position that "nothing has been decided" on the agenda to be discussed at the emergency meeting today.

However, inside and outside the party, there is a high possibility that the ethics committee will start additional disciplinary procedures against former CEO Lee Jun-seok on the same day.

At the General Assembly of People's Power held on the 27th of last month, Lee called for additional disciplinary action for remarks such as 'dog meat', 'mutton meat', and 'new military', which former president Lee Seok-yeol criticized and criticized the power of the people at a press conference. There is a bar.

In this regard, the Ethics Committee issued a statement on the 1st and said, "We respect the opinion of the National Assembly."

There is also an observation that, after the Ethics Committee decided to start the disciplinary process against former CEO Lee on the same day, the general meeting on the 28th will determine the level of disciplinary action against former CEO Lee.

While former CEO Lee announced that he would apply for an injunction when he decided to expel himself, this is because he said that he would not follow the disciplinary procedure so that there were no legal flaws.

In addition, the fact that chairperson Yang-hee Lee and the ethics committee members serve until mid-October is also cited as a background to the prospect of accelerating additional disciplinary action against former CEO Lee.

In a post on Facebook before the start of the ethics committee meeting, former CEO Lee criticized the ethics committee, saying, "Today, once again, for Yoon's benefit, they will make an unreasonable number. Again."
