in Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Fiona, the violent tropical storm that hit the Caribbean island, which has seen its power increase so much that it is classified as an urgan.

According to the latest indications, in fact, Fiona has strengthened in approaching the Puerto Rican coasts and the Dominican Republic.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center - of which Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory - warned that the storm could cause

devastating effects

especially in terms of flooding.

According to the latest bulletin from Downtown Miami, the hurricane wind travels at a speed of

140 kilometers per hour

and is now located a few tens of kilometers southwest of Ponce. 

Fiona, who is rated 1 out of 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, is the third cyclone of the season in the area, and is expected before the end of the day in the Dominican Republic as well.

In both Caribbean countries it may be accompanied by torrential rains.
