• Politics The PP tries to reactivate its bases for the Barcelona demonstration and demands "unity" from Vox and Cs

The Catalan constitutionalists -and from other regions- will demonstrate this Sunday in Barcelona against the linguistic impositions of the independentistas and in favor of the use of Castilian (at least 25%) in the classrooms.

PP, Vox and Ciudadanos will support the protest, which will be attended by Santiago Abascal and Inés Arrimadas, but not by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who will be replaced by Cuca Gamarra, general secretary of the popular party, the MEP

Dolors Montserrat

and

Alejandro Fernández,

president of the

PP

of this community.

Why won't the opposition leader be there?

In the direction of the

PP

they assure that he has to close the Interparliamentary meeting of his party, in

Toledo

.

And his speech, at 1:00 p.m., will coincide with the Catalan mobilization, which begins at 12:30 p.m.

However, several of the barons and leaders consulted this Saturday in the 'popular' conclave agreed that, in reality, what is happening to

Feijóo

is that "he does not want another photo of Columbus" with

Santiago Abascal,

like Pablo Casado's in February 2019. "It's normal", settles one of them, remembering the effect that the previous snapshot had for the acronym of the PP.

In

Genoa

they deny it and assure that there would have been no photo even if he could have gone, because Feijóo would have been in charge of being in a different area, since "he who supports" is the organizers, grouped on the Escuela de todos platform.

In addition,

Feijóo

plans to start his speech today speaking, precisely, of the problem of the Castilian language in

Catalonia

, according to PP sources.

Vox

and, above all,

Ciudadanos , are taking advantage of

Feijóo

's absence

to try to erode him and accuse him of colluding with nationalism or even "kneeling" before him, as Inés Arrimadas said on Thursday.

The 'orange' formation and Vox have mobilized militants from all over

Spain

for this demonstration, and have even chartered buses for those from other autonomies, especially from the

Valencian Community

and

Aragon

.

The

PP

has not come to that, but has asked its Catalan affiliates to come.

As this newspaper has learned,

Feijóo

has held talks with the organizers in recent days.

For example, with the president of the Assembly for a Bilingual School (AEB),

Ana Losada,

who has told him that, regardless of whether he goes or not, he must stay "on course" and be firm against independence.

In

Genoa

they justify that Feijóo had this appointment scheduled with the parliamentarians of his party.

But the truth is that the Interparliamentary was announced, in an internal circular signed by

Pedro Rollán,

on August 9, while the Escuela de Todos association called for its mobilization on July 31.

In addition, the representatives of the platform in defense of 25% of Spanish in Catalan classrooms went to

Congress

on July 28 to ask PP, Cs and Vox for help to make the appointment a success.

In the case of the popular ones, they met with

Gamarra

;

and by Vox,

Georgina Trias

.

Genoa insists that she was already preparing the appointment in Toledo before July 28.

And this Saturday, in Toledo, it was the general secretary of the PP,

Cuca Gamarra

, who was in charge of defending her party's position in the face of this constitutionalist demonstration.

"Tomorrow [for today] we are going to be defending the linguistic rights of all citizens," she stated during her speech.

"We will be supporting the resistance of heroic parents, of teachers who put up a fight and of all those who do not resign themselves against a

Pedro Sánchez

who has given up defending his rights," she insisted.

To defend himself against criticism,

Gamarra

stressed that the

PP

"will be" in the demonstrations "as it has always been."

And he directly appealed to

Vox

and

Cs

to park the noise of sabers and turn to the citizens affected by the secessionist impositions.

"We ask that all constitutionalists do it together. Let's unite tomorrow to defend the rights of Spaniards who want to defend their language," exhorted the 'number two' of the PP, in a clear reference to

Cs

and

Vox

, in front of a Prime

Minister

"who puts his survival above the Catalans and Spaniards".
