Targeted by a handrail filed by his wife, the deputy La France insoumise du Nord Adrien Quatennens announces this Sunday, to withdraw from his function as coordinator of France Insoumise.

On Twitter, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the movement, wanted to salute "the dignity and courage" of the deputy, after this announcement.

Objective: to calm the situation.

Faced with the media storm after the revelation that a handrail was filed against him, Adrien Quatennens is betting on total transparency.

In a press release published this Sunday noon on the social network Twitter, the deputy from the North admits to having had several arguments with his wife since she announced her desire to divorce.

But even more serious, Adrien admits having slapped his wife, injured her elbow and grabbed her wrists violently.

Hello everyone, after the events of this week and for the sake of transparency and appeasement, here is my official statement.

Gestures that the deputy from the north and current coordinator of France Insoumise says he deeply regrets.

In his press release, the MP claims not to be a violent man on a daily basis.

Despite the honesty of the transparency, these revelations set off a bombshell within La France insoumise.

Relief for some

If Jean-Luc Mélenchon wanted to "salute the dignity and courage" of Adrien Quatennens before assuring him of his full confidence, the other members of his political family are relieved by this resignation which they consider necessary given the seriousness of the situation.

This was particularly the case of the ecologist deputy Sandrine Rousseau, who on Twitter, called on the deputy from the North "to step back from everything, until justice is pronounced".
