The body of a 51-year-old man was found dead this Saturday morning, on the road to the Col du Tourmalet (Hautes-Pyrénées) by mountain CRS teams.

The hiker, a resident of Lot, had left the day before, in the company of his dog.

It was his family, without news, who gave the alert, tells France 3 Occitanie.

The search was initially carried out on foot because heavy fog made it impossible to use a helicopter.

They were interrupted at 4 a.m. before resuming a few hours later.

And it was at 9:30 a.m. that the man was found dead, probably after falling a hundred meters from a slope which has already been the scene of other accidents.

His dog, safe and sound, was waiting next to his master's remains.
