The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Taiwan on the 18th at 2:44 p.m. local time.



The earthquake occurred 86 km east of Yujing in southeastern Taiwan and the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km.



The US Tsunami Warning Center (TWC) has issued a tsunami warning for Taiwan after the earthquake was observed, Reuters reported.



The Japan Meteorological Agency has also issued a tsunami advisory in relation to a magnitude 7.2 earthquake near Taiwan.



The Japan Meteorological Agency said that the earthquake that occurred near Taiwan at 3:44 pm on the 18th was very shallow, resulting in a tsunami (tsunami) with a height of about 1 m in Okinawa Prefecture's Miyakojima and Yaeyama regions.



In Taiwan, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred in eastern Taitung prefecture the night before, shaking the whole of Taiwan.
