The Kremlin commented on the statement of Joe Biden, who threatened Russia with consequences if it uses nuclear weapons.

“Read the doctrine, everything is written there,” said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, whose words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

As follows from the military doctrine of the Russian Federation, the decision to use nuclear weapons is made by the president.

Its use is due to the response to the use of nuclear and other types of weapons of mass destruction against the Russian Federation or allies, as well as in the event of aggression against Russia, when the very existence of the state is threatened.

Earlier, the US President, in an interview with CBS, threatened Moscow with consequences if nuclear or chemical weapons were used in Ukraine.

According to him, this "would change the face of war like nothing since the Second World War."

“There will be consequences.

They will become more outcasts in the world than they have ever been.

And depending on the scale of what they do, we will determine what the answer will be, ”Biden said, referring to a possible reaction from Washington.

The topic of the use of nuclear or chemical weapons in this or that conflict is certainly raised by representatives of the collective West, led by the United States.

This opinion was expressed by Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.

“Only the Americans talk about the use of nuclear weapons.

In particular, the Americans allow a nuclear strike first.

We have never done this.

We only talked about the fact that we can respond with nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear strike on our territory.

Therefore, if he should scare someone there, then himself and his subordinates, ”the RT senator said.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa, in an interview with RT, also drew attention to the fact that Russia has never threatened anyone with nuclear weapons.

“But they have always said that in the event of an attack, our armed forces are ready to launch a retaliatory nuclear strike.

In August, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stressed that Russia has not used and is not going to use chemical or nuclear weapons as part of a special military operation in Ukraine.

“Its use is limited to emergency circumstances, which are defined in Russian guidelines that are open to the public,” he said.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin warned Kyiv about a response from Russia in the event of continued attempts to carry out terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation and in the liberated territories of Donbass, including at nuclear facilities.

“We see it all, we control it, of course, and we will do everything to prevent a negative development of events.

And the answer will be if they do not eventually understand that such methods are unacceptable.
