UNESCO includes Ras Al Khaimah in its global network of learning cities

 The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the inclusion of Ras Al Khaimah in its global network of learning cities, in an achievement that confirms the continuous efforts made by the UAE and Ras Al Khaimah to achieve the goals of sustainable development, to advance the inclusive education system, and to ensure its availability for life for all.

This accreditation came as a result of Ras Al Khaimah achieving basic pillars, including the emirate's clear vision about lifelong learning systems, in addition to its commitment to consolidating comprehensive education and reviving its active role in empowering society, building competencies, and facilitating it on a large scale at work, in addition to its expansion in the use of technologies. Modernization in the educational system, enhancing quality and excellence in it, and spreading a culture of continuous learning.

Commenting on the achievement of this global achievement, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latif Khalifa, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of Ras Al Khaimah, stressed that the emirate's accession to the Global Network of Learning Cities, affiliated with UNESCO, represents a new achievement in addition to its distinguished global presence, and is an acknowledgment of its possessions from Components and policies adopted to support education and expand its spread to include all segments of society and various stages of life under the wise guidance of the wise leadership of the UAE, the insightful and ambitious vision of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and the continuous follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, Chairman of the Executive Council, in line with the country’s general strategy and its global competitiveness priorities.

Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latif Khalifa said: "This membership will allow the emirate to share with the world its experience in consolidating education in the cultural, social, developmental and economic fabric, and in transferring the best practices that it follows to similar international advanced cities. It will also allow it to benefit from the experiences of member cities, and contribute to Formulating global policies to advance education as a basis for human development and the sustainability of civilizational achievements.

For his part, Munther Mohammed bin Shukr Al Zaabi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department, said: "Ras Al Khaimah's joining the network translates its future vision in upgrading the education sector, in establishing a culture of lifelong learning, and providing quality educational programs that contribute to empowering national competencies capable of Continuing the march of achievements and successes in the emirate.”

His Excellency Munther Mohammed bin Shukr Al Zaabi added: "Ras Al Khaimah is moving forward in providing high-quality education for all members of society to contribute to creating its bright and sustainable future, based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi."

The achievement of Ras Al Khaimah’s accession to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities was achieved as a result of the comprehensive cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Youth, represented by the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, and the General Secretariat of the Executive Council in Ras Al Khaimah, where the latter assumed responsibility for preparing the nomination files in coordination with all concerned authorities in the emirate, and worked To form a specialized work team to follow up on the implementation, review and audit of the joining requirements.

Ras Al Khaimah possesses high-quality educational components, and follows the highest international standards for the sustainability of this vital and strategic sector to create a bright future for the country and the Emirate.
