Activists of the climate protection movement "Last Generation" have been found guilty of coercion by the district court of Munich because of a sticking action.

The three accused, who were adolescents when they committed the crime on a street in downtown Munich, were warned under juvenile criminal law.

The public prosecutor had demanded 25 hours of work each, the defense acquittals.

The defendants had previously admitted their involvement in a road blockade.

A student who stuck himself to the street with superglue during the action in February spoke on Friday of anger, sadness and an "irreversible loss" of animal and plant species.

He feels "just desperation".

"Our blockades are necessary as fire alarms," he said.

"I will do this again in the future."

The "Last Generation" had recently made headlines with similar actions.

Activists repeatedly stuck themselves to works of art or tried to attach themselves to a goal post during FC Bayern's Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

"Duty to fight back"

The two young women who were also accused and who - along with other others - were involved in the action, made similar statements in court on Friday.

One of the students said she saw it as her "duty to fight it" given the dramatic consequences of climate change.

"Yes, I stood on this street to sound the alarm," she confessed.

She would also prefer not to have to do this and stand trial because of it, but she has lost confidence in politics.

"If not us, who?" she asked.

"Nobody else does it."

The judge said: "My job is not to make politics, nor to correct politics.

My job is to apply the law.” In Berlin, a 20-year-old climate activist was recently sentenced to 60 hours of free time for taking part in a road blockade.

The Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution does not rate the "last generation" as extremist.

The President of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Burkhard Körner, told the FAZ that the "Last Generation" had become "radical" and "more radical", but they were "not aiming to abolish certain constitutional principles".

That's why she's not being watched.
