A Myanmar female journalist detained by the military last August was held on the 15th and sentenced to three years in prison for spreading false information.

Tet Tet Kai, a freelance journalist who was a newscaster for the BBC's Myanmar-language radio program in Myanmar, was detained by the military last August.



Tet Tet Kai is charged with dissemination of false information, making citizens feel uneasy, and contacting an illegal organization.



The lawyer in charge told NHK that the court sentenced him to three years in prison on the 15th.



According to Myanmar's independent journalists group, 144 Myanmar journalists have been detained since the military coup, of which 63 are still detained.



In Myanmar, Japanese journalist Toru Kubota was detained for filming protest demonstrations against the military after entering the country on a tourist visa. Freedom is being tightened.
