A man in his sixties lost his life at sea on Thursday morning off Douarnenez in Finistère, we learned from the Atlantic maritime prefecture.
It was a witness who gave the alert a little after 8 a.m. by reporting the stranding of a sailboat at the level of the tip of Leydé.
Significant resources were then committed at sea with the intervention of an SNSM launch, a Civil Security helicopter, firefighters and gendarmes from the Douarnenez brigade.
A little before noon, the owner of the boat was finally spotted in the water at the tip of Miller, in the town of Beuzec-Cap-Sizun, before being airlifted.
Despite attempts to revive him, the victim died.
An investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
