Ida Stafrin, chairman of the Center Party in Västernorrland, and Jonny Lundin, opposition councilor in Region Västernorrland, are depressed after Annie Lööf's resignation.

- It's very sad, and I would have liked her to stay.

But at the same time, it is completely understandable that she chooses to step down after eleven years, says Ida Stafrin, chairman of C in Västernorrland.

Local candidates

It remains to be seen who succeeds Annie Lööf, but Ida Stafrin believes that there are several people who might consider running.

One person mentioned in the discussions is Emil Källström from Örnsköldsvik.

- My personal opinion is that I would have liked to see Emil Källström as the new party chairman for the Center Party, says Jonny Lundin.

Reduction for the Center Party

The election result in the Riksdag election was not what the Center Party expected.

It retreated by almost two percentage points compared to the 2018 election.

It remains to be seen which political direction the party will take now, but Annie Lööf said at today's press conference that the party will not change the direction of the Center Party's policy.

- It is not my role to point out a direction forward, but the role that the Center Party has is a joint decision that we have made, she says.

Ida Stafrin doesn't believe and hope so either.

- I cannot imagine that we will cooperate with SD in any way.
