The fact that the price of electricity has recently been high, sometimes record high, has probably not escaped anyone.

But there are big differences across the country.

It is mainly in southern Sweden, electricity areas 3 and 4, that the price has gone up the most.

In the north of Sweden, prices have in and of themselves also gone up, but not as much.

The fact is that electricity areas 1 and 2, which include the counties of Jämtland and Västernorrland, have had the lowest electricity price in the entire EU.

"Four times as high in southern Sweden"

But prices are expected to continue upwards.

- The forecast shows that the electricity price here could be twice as high as last winter, but four times as high in southern Sweden.

That's what Ulf Larsson, unit manager for online shopping at Jämtkraft says

There are several factors that cause the prices to skyrocket, but the large differences have, among other things, caused several voices to be raised that Sweden should be an electricity price area.

In the clip above, Ulf Larsson explains what price trends are expected going forward and why electricity prices differ so much across the country.
