After losing a bet and paying a lien by undergoing a very intrusive colonoscopy, actor Ryan Reynolds discovered he had an octopus, which was removed in time.

His doctor claims the procedure may have saved his life. 

The story was used by the actor to promote preventive 'screening' of the colon in order to discover possible cancers.

Reynolds documented his medical journey after losing a bet with his friend Rob McElhenney, also an actor

Both were filmed on cameras after undergoing colonoscopy under anesthesia. 

Gastroenterologist Jonathan LaPook, as seen in the video, communicates to Reynolds the discovery of a small polyp, which was later removed.

The clip will be used to promote colonoscopy.

According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer is the third most common in the United States and the risk of developing it affects one in twenty-three men and one in twenty-five women
