The future, which is tomorrow, is frightening because there are too many uncertainties due to the pandemic and the war.

Worries about not having the strength of the past, finding oneself alone with economic difficulties.

But above all, helpless.

This is certainly the summary picture traced today by the "

Survey on the Orientations of Italians towards Donations and the Solidarity Testament

" promoted by

the Solidarity Testament Committee,

which

 includes

26

organizations

non-profit and conducted by Walden Lab. The research took into consideration the last week of June and the first week of July 2022, on a sample of 1,006 people aged between 25 and 75 years.

A picture that is not entirely pessimistic because if optimism decreases, the thought of “giving” something of us for a better future rises instead, which is not a cliché.

In 2022, 38% declare that they have made at least one donation, 10 points more than in the previous 2 years.

In general, 71% of Italians have donated at least once in their life.

Among the causes sustained in the last 12 months, medical-scientific research is on the rise (45% vs 37% in 2021) and humanitarian emergencies (28% vs 15% in 2021).

Donations for the protection of the artistic heritage remain at the bottom (3% vs 5% in 2021).

Among the criteria for choosing the supported organization, the theme of trust is growing significantly: 61% declare that they have donated to an organization they trust.

Almost 8 out of 10 Italians, among the over 50s, today know what a solidarity legacy is (79%): a figure in clear growth compared to 73% in 2021 and 72% in 2020

.

Numbers that testify as information campaigns but also by simple word of mouth we have left their mark.

In 2022

the percentage of those who have done or are inclined to do so rises to 26%, 4 points more than in 2021 (22%) and 6 points more than in 2020 (20%)

The numbers demonstrate the will to concretely leave something of oneself even after difficult years with unexpected fears that they thought were completely past.

"

The interesting aspect -

explains

Rossano Bartoli

,

Spokesperson of the Solidarity Testament Committee and President of the Lega del Filo d'Oro -

However, the anxiety of the future has not made us more individualistic, on the contrary: compared to 2020 among the over 50s, the knowledge of solidarity legacy increases by 7 points and the propensity to do so by 6 points.

It is a choice that does not in any way affect the rights of the heirs and that can really translate into a concrete gesture to leave a trace, a sense of responsibility towards others.

It is also a gesture of trust towards the organizations of the Third Sector which, with their work, transparently guarantee that the last wishes of a donor are transformed into concrete projects where they are most needed ”.
