Hear Paul Åkerlund (S) explain in the video why he does not consider it obvious that M should take over the reins

In Trollhättan, the Social Democrats have ruled for over 100 years.

This year too, the Social Democrats become the largest party in the municipality with over 34 percent of the vote.

But when this year they go backwards by several percentage points, while the Moderates move forward by more than seven percentage points, suddenly a change of power is possible.

- I am very happy but it is difficult to accept, says Peter Eriksson (M), opposition councillor.

SD can become wave master

Together with C and KD, M hopes to assemble a minority government with SD as wave master.

When 34 out of 36 electoral districts are counted, the right-wing side gathers 52.2 percent of the votes, of which the Moderates get 27.5 percent.

- I am very happy, says Sofia Lindholm (C), the party's first name in Trollhättan.

At the same time, the Green Party and the Liberals leave the council because neither party reaches three percent.

The Social Democrats have a proud history in Trollhättan (such as when Palme sang the Internationalen in the Sports Hall during the workers' municipality's 75th anniversary in 1979) - now a change of power with Peter Eriksson (M) at the helm may be underway.
