Remote voting

In a number of regions, it was possible to take part in the expression of will in the format of remote electronic voting (DEV).

According to the decision of the authorities, this year this function was available to residents of the Kursk, Novgorod, Pskov, Yaroslavl, Kaliningrad, Kaluga and Tomsk regions.

Moscow conducted electronic voting on its own platform.

On Saturday, September 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov took advantage of the possibility of remote voting.

On Sunday, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, announced participation in voting in a remote format.

According to the mayor, the ability to cast a vote remotely allowed many Muscovites who had not previously voted to take part in the elections.

According to Ella Pamfilova, chairwoman of the CEC, on September 10 and 11, the remote electronic voting system was attacked more than 300 times.

Pamfilova noted that no large-scale DDoS attacks were detected.

“During Saturday-Sunday, a little more than 300 attempts of information influence of a low degree of criticality on the DEG system from foreign addresses were recorded.

The impacts are recorded from the addresses of the networks of the countries of Western Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus.

There have been no large-scale DDoS attacks over the past time, most of the malicious traffic is blocked and does not reach the perimeter of the DEG system, ”she said.

At the same time, the night before, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation Oleg Kachanov reported that during the elections, the number of attacks on the DEG infrastructure during the elections exceeded 35,000.

Pamfilova also spoke about the possibility of extending the DEG procedure throughout the country.

According to her, the CEC can implement this scenario, but so far this will not be done.

“Because for us, the absolute priority is the complete security of the system: ensuring secret voting on the one hand, on the other hand, transparency of control, and, as a result, the main criterion according to which we measure our actions is the level trust,” Pamfilova said.
