Already during the morning, the pressure was high at several polling stations around Uppsala.

Voters have had to wait upwards of 1.5 hours to cast their ballots, and many have returned home after seeing the long queues.

At the polling stations in Nåntunaskolan, Lindbackenskolan and Malmaskolan, among others, many voters had to queue even after darkness had fallen over Uppsala.

This despite the fact that the chairman of the election board, Johan Pelling, said at 19:40 that the situation was calm.

- We have just had a round-up, and right now we have no queues to speak of, said Johan Pelling, chairman of the election board at the time.

The reason behind the long queues is the new rule that states that those who are going to vote go one by one to collect ballot papers, something that caused long queues in the country's premises for early voting already during Saturday.
