China News Service, Toronto, September 10th. On September 10th, local time, on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Chinese Consul General in Montreal, Chen Xueming, sent holiday greetings and blessings to the overseas Chinese in the consular area in writing and bid farewell.

"I remember that on the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2018, I was in Montreal's Chinatown enjoying the moon and chatting with friends from overseas Chinese circles. On the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2019, I sat around and chatted with the elderly at Zhonghua Hospital. After the two Mid-Autumn Festivals during the epidemic, I was online with the overseas Chinese. Let's spend together." Chen Xueming said in his farewell letter, "And this Mid-Autumn Festival, I have to regret to tell everyone that because of work needs, I will leave my post and return to China today. Due to the epidemic, I cannot leave in person, so I would like to say goodbye to everyone with this letter."

Chen Xueming said that for more than four years, he and the overseas Chinese in the consular area have experienced the ups and downs of China-Canada relations and the ravages of the new crown epidemic.

With the care and support of friends from all walks of life, especially friends from overseas Chinese, he successfully completed his term of office. During this period, he made many friends and left many precious memories.

"Time turns, four years have passed, and under the iris, things have grown." Chen Xueming said that when he parted, he was full of emotion, and his heart was filled with reluctance and concern for the overseas Chinese and friends.

The pictures of acquaintance and acquaintance with everyone are vivid in my eyes, and the warm words are still in my ears.

Unforgettable the warm welcome of the overseas Chinese when they took office; the sincere smiles of the overseas Chinese when they met together; the great love of the overseas Chinese who ran and donated generously when their ancestral (home) country suffered a disaster; and the overseas Chinese who fought against the epidemic regardless of gain or loss when the epidemic hit. It is unforgettable that the overseas Chinese have a firm voice for defending the dignity of the nation and promoting the reunification of the motherland; the unforgettable overseas Chinese persevered in friendship and silence for China-Quebec (Quebec) and China-Singapore (New Brunswick) when China-Canada relations were cold. Dedication...I was deeply moved by everyone's pure heart!

Chen Xueming hoped that the overseas Chinese in the consular area could unite and help each other, jointly safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, continue to carry forward the fine tradition of loving the country and the hometown, and make new contributions to the prosperity and development of the ancestral (home) country and the friendship between China and Canada.

The Consulate-General in Montreal will continue to adhere to the principle of "people-oriented, diplomacy for the people" and serve the vast number of overseas Chinese. I hope everyone will continue to support the work of the Consulate-General as always.

Chen Xueming became the third Chinese Consul General in Montreal in July 2018.

Previously, he worked in the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon, the Commissioner's Office in Hong Kong, the Cadre Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Organization Department of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.
