United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said North Korea's adoption of a law stipulating the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons "is contrary to decades of efforts by the international community to reduce nuclear risks. He expressed his strong concern, urging North Korea to resume dialogue with the major parties concerned toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly adopted a decree on the "Nuclear Weapons Policy," which stipulates 11 items, including the principles and conditions for the use of nuclear weapons, on the 8th. We should expand our space and strengthen our nuclear warfare posture."

A spokesman for the United Nations announced the comments of Secretary-General Guterres at a regular press conference on the 9th.

In it, Secretary-General Guterres said, "Elevating the role and importance of nuclear weapons in security policy reflects decades of efforts by the international community to reduce and eliminate nuclear risks. It's the opposite," he said with strong concern.

He also noted that "North Korea continues to ignore UN Security Council resolutions as it pursues a nuclear program that includes developing missiles using ballistic missile technology."

Secretary-General Guterres then called on North Korea to resume dialogue with the major parties concerned toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
