On Iriomote Island in Taketomi Town, where votes for the Okinawa gubernatorial election were held one day early on the 10th, the ship was canceled due to Typhoon No. was carried.

In Taketomi Town, the voting date is moved up by one day for each gubernatorial election because it takes time to transport the ballot box from the islands in the town to the vote counting station on Ishigaki Island.

This time, in consideration of the impact of Typhoon No. 12, polling stations in the town have shortened the voting period on the 10th to 4:00 pm by 4 hours.

However, due to the sea being rough, some liner boats from Iriomote Island to Ishigaki Island were canceled, and ballot boxes at three polling stations on the island could not be transported. The Electoral Commission requested a helicopter transport.

The Japan Coast Guard helicopter landed at New Ishigaki Airport before 5:00 pm on the 10th, after which the ballot box was carried to the government office in Taketomi Town.

Typhoon No. 12 had other effects on the Okinawa gubernatorial election, and there was a risk that the ferry might be canceled on Ogamijima in Miyakojima City, so the voting date was moved up two days and the vote was held on the 9th.
