German Foreign Minister Annalena Barbock flew to Ukraine today for a surprise sight of clear political significance.

"I came to Kiev to show that they can continue to count on us, that we will continue to support Ukraine as long as it takes, through the distribution of weapons, humanitarian and financial support".

In addition to financial and military aid, Germany intends to help Ukraine carry out demining operations and "shed light on the war crimes committed, by sending experts including a magistrate", continued the minister in a note issued by the ministry.

This is Baerbock's second visit to Kiev since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

"For me, it is clear that Putin is counting on the fact that we will tire of the suffering in Ukraine," he concluded.
