Ukraine will lose sovereignty if it refuses to fight, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

“All of us will pay a much higher price if Russia or other authoritarian regimes see their aggression being encouraged.

If Russia stops fighting, there will be peace.

If Ukraine stops fighting, it will cease to exist as an independent state.

Therefore, we must stay the course for the sake of Ukraine and ourselves,” says the head of the bloc.

He promised that the alliance would support Kyiv "in the long term" and assist in its transition from Soviet-era weapons to modern ones.

Stoltenberg also noted that at the same time, NATO is sending Moscow a "clear signal" about its readiness to defend and defend "every inch of Allied territory."

“We are significantly increasing our presence in the eastern part of the alliance, putting hundreds of thousands of troops on high alert with the support of a significant contingent of air and sea forces, and also continue to invest in advanced capabilities.

All this makes it clear that our commitment to the principles of the Fifth Article (North Atlantic Treaty.

) is unshakable, ”he said.

Recall that earlier Stoltenberg announced an increase in the number of high-readiness forces to more than 300 thousand. According to NATO, at the end of 2021, the number of rapid reaction forces was 40 thousand people.

In addition, strengthening the eastern flank of the bloc is planned through the creation of a new headquarters for the 5th US Army Corps in Poland.

In addition, the United States intends to increase its deployment on a rotational basis in the Baltic countries, as well as in Romania.

Washington has already deployed an additional 20,000 troops to Europe this year "to strengthen the alliance in response to Russia's aggressive actions," bringing its presence in the region to 100,000.

In addition, during a press conference with Blinken, Stoltenberg emphasized that the United States, by helping Ukraine to meet its military needs, “sets an example by its actions.”

“I welcome the multi-billion dollar additional support announced this week,” Stoltenberg said.

"Above America's Needs"

Recall that we are talking about a new American package of military assistance to Kyiv in the amount of up to $675 million, as well as an additional tranche of $2 billion to maintain the security of Ukraine and its neighboring countries.

The package for $675 million, in particular, includes ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS, four 105-mm howitzers and 36,000 rounds for them, HARM anti-radar missiles, 100 HMMWV armored vehicles, more than 5,000 anti-tank systems, 1.5 million rounds for small arms and night vision systems.

The Pentagon clarified that during the Biden administration, the United States has already allocated $15.2 billion in assistance to Ukraine to ensure the country's security.

Of these, Kyiv has received $14.5 billion since the beginning of Russia's special operation in Ukraine.

At the same time, Politico believes that for the 46th head of the White House, the conflict in Ukraine is likely to become "a defining moment of his foreign policy legacy."

However, Biden had difficulties here, the newspaper notes.

“Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine approaching its 200th day (as the West calls the NWO of the Russian Federation.

), US President Joe Biden is facing new difficulties in connection with his promise to resist Moscow’s military machine for as long as it takes,” writes Politico .

The publication states that these difficulties are motivated by both foreign policy realities and internal problems.

“Political leaders of key allies (USA.

) were forced to step down from power.

On the other side of the Atlantic (in Europe.

) an energy crisis is brewing.

And in the United States, Ukraine has been pushed out of the headlines by political turmoil as a growing number of conservatives accuse Biden of putting Kyiv ahead of America's own needs.

"The situation will change"

According to experts, despite the emerging difficulties within the United States and Europe, Washington and NATO still set themselves the goal of exacerbating the situation in Ukraine to counter the Russian Federation, pumping Kyiv with weapons.

“Washington and the bloc are so desperately clinging to the “Ukrainian case”, despite the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to pull it.

For the United States and the alliance, this is a way to simultaneously completely bind European countries to itself, maintain Washington's hegemony and harm the Russian Federation, ”military expert Ivan Konovalov explained in an interview with RT.

He stressed that Stoltenberg, allegedly declaring the cessation of the existence of Ukraine in the event of renunciation of hostilities, distorts reality.

“In fact, it is precisely the continuation of the confrontation that leads to the destruction of an increasing number of Ukrainians, including among the civilian population, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively firing from Western weapons,” the analyst said.

As Volodymyr Bruter, an expert at the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies, noted, the West only pretends to be concerned about the preservation of Ukraine as a state, but in reality it is only concerned about containing Russia at the expense of the “Ukrainian case”.

“For the US and NATO, containment of the Russian Federation is the main idea of continuing their world hegemony.

If they concede to Russia, this, in their opinion, will mean that they can be fought and won against.

Statehood of Ukraine for the West is secondary.

Kyiv is fighting with Western weapons with the help of Western intelligence and instructors.

Only the military on the battlefield is Ukrainian, but Washington and the bloc do not feel sorry for them, they are consumables for them, ”Bruter emphasized in a conversation with RT.

At the same time, he did not rule out that Kyiv's military support could indeed lead to deepening internal problems in a number of Western countries, including the United States.

“In conditions when the United States does not have enough funds to overcome internal difficulties, and colossal sums go to arms Ukraine, this is beginning to annoy the Americans.

It becomes obvious to them that the White House is ignoring the interests of its citizens, which the current administration and Democrats are accused of by the Republicans, ”he says.

In this regard, Bruter does not exclude the defeat of the Democrats in the midterm congressional elections and the loss of their majority in both chambers.

“If this happens, the head of the White House will not be able to restore his positions, and the question will arise about the allocation of additional funds for military assistance to Ukraine by Congress, which by that time may already be under the control of the Republicans.

And they are unhappy with the inattention to American problems, ”the analyst noted.

At the same time, Vladimir Bruter is confident that, as long as Washington has the opportunity, he will send additional funds to Kyiv for military needs and lead the process of strengthening NATO's eastern flank.

“For some time, the US and its allies will be able to raise the bar, but soon the resources for this will be exhausted.

Despite the fact that now Washington is not ready to make concessions on the Ukrainian issue and stop arms supplies, the situation will change as the liberated territories of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine expand.

It is possible that in the end the Biden administration will seriously reduce its role in this conflict, ”the expert concluded.
