- Now it's over, I refuse to stay in our house, says Cristian Majhem when he shows the bill for the month of August.

It has landed at a total of SEK 4,397 for 822 kWh, including grid fee and other surcharges.

- It's a shock, it's completely unreasonable.

How can you justify raising it almost three times between July and August.

What will happen to winter, what will happen when the cold comes?

It wasn't even cold in August, he says.

Borrowed to be able to pay electricity bills

Already last winter, the family was hit by expensive electricity bills.

In January, for example, they paid SEK 10,571 for the month of December.

Then they were forced to take out loans to be able to pay the electricity bills.

- I don't even dare to think about what an electricity bill will end up with this fall and winter.

Unfortunately, you have to give up your house to survive.

"No one wants to buy the house"

Cristian and his wife have lived in the villa in Södra Sandby since 2007. Seven months ago, their son Kevin was born.

Cristan works as a baker in Eslöv and his wife is on maternity leave.

The couple has considered selling the house to reduce the monthly costs.

- But no one wants to buy the house.

Two brokers have already said that no one wants to buy a house.

Have you tried to save in any way?

- We will install a wood stove.

But is it worth it?

The wood has gone up, you won't profit from it.

There is a shortage of firewood now too, there is no win-win situation.

The only solution for us is to move in with my mother.

She has a second, a rental apartment of 60 square meters, says Cristian.

Leaving the house for six months

The family has already started packing for the move, which will take place at the end of September.

They plan to stay with Cristian's mother until March next year.

- We shut down the electricity in the whole house so as not to get this shock that will come.

It is terribly sad that such drastic measures have to be taken.
