There is a steady stream of voters who vote early in the culture magazine in central Sundsvall.

So far, more Swedes than at the same time in the 2018 election have voted in advance.

- If you have children, it needs to go away a bit, so this was perfect, says Kamilla Elali, who just voted early in Sundsvall.

2.9 million people voted early in the 2018 election, continuing the trend that is now there will be even more this year.

"Haven't decided"

But if you're going to vote early, you have to make up your mind and that's not the case for everyone.

- I haven't decided yet, says Isabelle Gulliksson, who plans to study before making her decision.

According to Sofie Blombäck, who is a political scientist at Mittuniversitetet in Sundsvall, voter surveys show that many decide how to vote even before the election campaign starts, while there is a large group who decide at the last moment.

A large minority decides the last week

- There is a large minority who decide like this in the last week and among them we find some of them who also change parties and outright block, she says.

Sofie Blombäck also states that some of those who are undecided keep it open to possibly change parties but then end up in their original party.

- It is quite rational that you want to share all the information you can, there is a lot going on during the election campaign.

If you're not sure what you like, maybe it's not so strange that you want to wait.

"Being the same as always"

The question is whether the group of voters who make their decision late in the process can influence the outcome of the election?

- Voter research from previous elections shows that there are approximately five percent who not only change parties, but also change blocks, and if it is very even, a single percentage point that changes here or there can influence whether someone enters the Riksdag or not, but also which majority wins, explains Sofie Blombäck.

Gullan Lundvall definitely does not belong to the group of undecided voters.

- It will be the same as always, she notes.
